There are only a few sport bikes that can be recommended to A2 licence holders and the Yamaha R3 is surely one of them. It is slightly cheaper and more practical than some of its competitors such as the Kawasaki Ninja 300, yet it doesn’t lack any performance at all. In fact, the R3 is one of the fastest 300cc bikes on the market, as it’s capable of reaching speeds over 100 mph.

The Yamaha R3 comes with a powerful parallel twin engine that offers incredible amounts of torque and almost instant acceleration. The riding experience is smooth and the bike is super-easy to ride even in heavy traffic.

As with most other Japanese motorcycles, you can expect the typical high quality finish and very good reliability. All plastics feel solid and the seat is surprisingly comfortable, especially for a sport bike.

Despite its powerful engine and incredible top speed, the Yamaha R3 is fully A2 legal and there is no restriction needed in the UK and EU.

The Yamaha R3 is a 321cc A2-friendly sport bike. It has a power output of 31 kW (41 bhp), which is within the 35 kW (47 bhp) limit needed for an A2 licence. No restriction is required, as the bike is fully A2 licence compliant.
