Can you ride the Indian Scout on an A2 licence?
Yes, you can ride the Indian Scout (2014 onwards) on an A2 motorbike licence. However, you will need to fit a restrictor kit to reduce its power output and make it A2 licence compliant!
Indian Scout (2014 onwards)
The Indian Scout is the flagship model of the famous American motorcycle manufacturer that has been the biggest Harley’s competitor in recent years. It is a classic cruiser bike that is suitable for tall riders. It comes with a stylish retro design that combines shiny chrome and matte black finishes all over the body, which creates really cool and unique aesthetics.
The bike is equipped with a 1133cc V-Twin engine that produces around 100 bhp as standard. Apart from the regular model, there is also an A2 legal version available that is factory restricted to comply with the A2 licence requirements.
In terms of equipment, the Indian Scout is a pretty simple machine. There are no multiple rider modes or riding aids such as cruise control or traction control. It has a comfortable seat and fat tires that make the bike super-stable on the road. The brakes are very basic and suspension non-adjustable. This a slight disappointment. Fortunately, the price is a bit cheaper compared to most Harley Davidson bikes.
Please note that the below specifications are for the regular non-A2 compliant Indian Scout model, rather than the 35kW / 70kW A2-compliant one.
A2 Licence Compliance
The Indian Scout is a 1133cc A2-friendly cruiser bike. It has a power output of 74 kW (100 bhp), which exceeds the 35 kW (47 bhp) limit needed for an A2 licence. The bike has to be restricted by at least 52.7% to become A2 licence compliant.
You will need a restrictor to ride the Indian Scout on an A2 motorbike licence. See the restrictor kits section to check out what restrictors are available for the Indian Scout.
