Can you ride the Ducati Monster 821 on an A2 licence?
Yes, you can ride the Ducati Monster 821 (2014 - 2020) on an A2 motorbike licence. However, you will need to fit a restrictor kit to reduce its power output and make it A2 licence compliant!
Ducati Monster 821 (2014 - 2020)
The Ducati Monster 821 is definitely one of most popular naked motorcycles of all times. It has a simple, minimalist design, which makes it look absolutely phenomenal. There is no way you can mistake it for any other bike from a different brand.
Compared to previous models such as the Monster 796, the 821 has much more power under the hood. It comes with a whopping 82 kW (112 bhp), which makes it illegal to ride on an A2 licence.
Luckily, Ducati has also released an A2-legal version that is restricted to 35 kW from factory. Apart from the reduced horsepower, it has the exact same specs as the regular model and you can de-restrict it once you get your full category A motorbike licence.
The Ducati Monster 821 features a three-level adjustable ABS, high-quality colour TFT display, three riding modes, and three power modes. It is a modern, reliable bike and you don’t have to worry about the usual issues of older Ducati motorcycles. The build quality is excellent and the machine is a real joy to ride. The only downside of this bike is a higher price tag.
A2 Licence Compliance
The Ducati Monster 821 is a 821cc A2-friendly standard bike. It has a power output of 82 kW (112 bhp), which exceeds the 35 kW (47 bhp) limit needed for an A2 licence. The bike has to be restricted by at least 57.3% to become A2 licence compliant.
You will need a restrictor to ride the Ducati Monster 821 on an A2 motorbike licence. See the restrictor kits section to check out what restrictors are available for the Ducati Monster 821.
